Happy New Year + Singles Competitions | 1st January 2017 |
Happy New Year!
For those of you entered into the singles competitions (Town Cup and Non-Winners Trophy) please remember that the home player must contact the away player by midnight on the 9th of January , providing 3 alternative dates on which to play the match.
Failure to do so means that they lose home advantage – the away player becomes the home player and must arrange the match date. If this happens, it would be a good idea for the (original) away player to inform the fixture secretary so that the system can be amended accordingly.
Town Cup, Non-Winners Trophy, and Blind Pairs Draws | 9th November 2016 |
The draws were made tonight for the singles and pairs knockout competitions – see the tabs on the side of the Tables/Stats/Fixtures page, available from the link above.
Please note the rule change that came into effect this year, following the AGM:
vi. The home drawn player or players shall be responsible for making contact with the drawn opponents within 9 days following the date beginning the particular round and shall offer the opponents 3 alternative dates on which the match may be played. If the away drawn player or players have not been contacted within 9 days following the date beginning the particular round, then the away drawn player or players shall gain home advantage and shall provide the 3 alternative dates on which the match may be played, and shall inform the fixture secretary accordingly. Failure to comply with either clause v. or clause vi. shall result in forfeiture of the later round.
Therefore, if the home player(s) fail to contact the away player(s) by the 9th of the month that the game is due to be played, the away player(s) gain home advantage and get to set the dates for the match. This should ensure that games are played in a timely manner.
Pairs matches take place on the last Wednesday of the month, so this shouldn’t be a problem for them.
Remember, phone numbers are available by clicking on the telephone link next to the name.
Good luck to all involved!

A few team changes, from the AGM:
Matches start on 13th September. The fixtures will be generated over the next few days and distributed to the team captains.
Knockout Competition Rule Change |
An amendment to Knockout Competitions A General Rule vi was proposed and carried at the AGM. The rule now states (with the new wording in red):
Therefore, if the home player(s) fail to contact the away player(s) by the 9th of the month, the away player(s) gain home advantage and get to set the dates for the match. This should ensure that games are played in a timely manner.
